Buyer beware! The sales and test drive process was great, and salesperson Melanie was super. We offered to pay a deposit by Melanie shortly before 5pm but moments later the manager, (Darren?) said they would not allow us to pay a deposit on the vehicle while we slept on it to make a decision. Fair enough, the next day at 10am when they opened, Melanie called and we confirmed we would take the car and we'll be over shortly with a cheque to pay in full.

Less than 2 hours later the manager called to ask whether we had already got the certified bank cheque because someone else had an appointment to view the car that morning and they are willing to pay $1,000 more. (Maybe they were aware of the appointment and that's why they wouldn't take a deposit?) The manager's call was as if to say: "if we up our verbal offer we can have the car." We said we wouldn't and they sold the car to someone else.

While we may not have had a signed offer to purchase in place so nothing the dealership has done is against AMVIC rules, we feel there is a certain level of business professionalism this manager, Darren, lacks. Car dealerships already don't have a great reputation as it is, one would hope that a big brand like Kia would have been more honourable than this.

We asked that they follow up with other options to offer any other cars on their lot. We never heard anything again.

We bought a car from Eastside Kia instead a few days later.

Management at this store needs a shuffle. If you'd like to make it up to us, please do. We now own a KIA in your neighborhood so I'm sure there's many inventive ways you could try to save some reputation.

Worst dealership!!! I went to see a Jeep by setting an appointment with agent Melanie. She offered the key after paper work to go for a test drive, once I came back from my drive she was busy with a different client so I was waiting. After over 15 minutes of wait a duty manager showed up to ask how was the drive. So I did give my feedback and after he went to work out a pricing and so he asked me go sit at the agents siting area. After few minutes of wait all of a sudden I hear a voice from behind asking "What can I do for you?" I mentioned I am waiting for the duty manager. He said you took that Jeep for a test drive and I said yes I did. He mentioned I have an offer for that car now so if you offer more I can decline that and can accept yours. I said but I am waiting for the duty manager to come up with the pricing as I discussed with him already, he said I am the "General Manager" so give me your price and so we don't waste time. I said but he is working on it but still he insisted me to come up with price and so I gave my pricing based on the condition of the vehicle. Once after that he was very rude and said right away "OK you can leave" without even discussing. I have never ever seen a disorganized dealership team and a manner-less general manager. I will never visit gain. Good luck

As you mentioned in the response, firstly it is not several thousand of dollars difference and I did not initiate the negotiations. Secondly, the General Manager himself came to me and asked me “twice”for my first offer even though I asked him for the best offer. The very disappointing fact is that as a dealership you should act professionally and not being rude to your customer.Thirdly, If you are not fine with my offer which the GM mentioned couple of times there are different ways to communicate. Is This is a professional level Northland Kia is capable of: to blame the customer like I demanded that Jeep for my desired pricing. Ultimately I wasted my time coming to your dealership.

Matty Tumolva was literally the best sales person I have ever dealt with in my entire life. If he sold the Bible, the entire population of the earth would be Christian. If he sold toothpaste, the world would have immaculate teeth. If he sold birth control, there would be no next generation of people. Extremely professional, easy to understand, not a thief. We were willing to give Northland Kia another chance but after today we will not be returning.

We had an appointment to have our tires changed and were told that they had requested our tires from the storage, upon arrival they were not there, as a result we had made a trip for no reason.

The appointment was rescheduled for for a few days later, upon arrival the made us aware that there was a 2 hr + wait, before they could begin the tire swap. Due to the inconvenience we were offered free storage, a tire swap, and “red carpet service”. Which included picking up our vehicle and returning after the tire swap. After this issue we did submit an online complaint to the Kia Northland website detailing our experience and receive no reply or acknowledgement of this. We also requested a call back from management of this location and have also received no reply or acknowledgement.

The vehicle was supposed to be picked up at 8:30 this morning. After 8:45 no one had shown up, so we made multiple attempts to contact Northland. Finally we got through, and were told they did not have staff to pick up our vehicle, and that if we drove it down they could complete the tire swap.

This was not the first time we had an issue at Northland Kia, last year we brought our car in for an oil change and tire swap, they had someone who was training and serviced our car. This person washed the interior of the car with the wrong product and left it oily, they did offer us a detail at no charge.

Our issue the whole way along has been communication. Each time there has been an issue we have either had to contact Northland ourselves, after a promise has been broken, or driven to your location only to be told once we get there a promise has been broken. Even though we have been offered compensation along the way, that is only as good as actually getting the compensation. We do realize that at this time everyone may be dealing with less staff than normal, and understand that it may effect service times etc. Again our issue is that we have had 0% communication, and have now wasted 3 days. At this point it is easier and will be less of a hassle to take our vehicle elsewhere for this, and future services.

They tried to add a mandatory $3K package on top of the cost of the vehicle which is against AMVIC all in pricing regulations and would not give me a breakdown of the final cost of the car by only giving me payments on the longest term etc. I went to another Kia dealership and bought the vehicle the day after when they didn't answer my email or my response from their so-called sales director.. I would avoid this one unless you like shady high pressure sales tactics. In response to the managers' response to my review it was in fact included as a mandatory package "titled the Alberta Value Package" which i have photo evidence as well of it being added to the deal and have included the printout they gave me as proof for this review.

In Response to the second update. The sales person made it very clear that I could not opt out of the package as it came with the car, as you stated in your original reply. I am very well-educated in finance as I have a CPA and MBA in the discipline and told the sales rep outright I did not want the package as it offered not value and was a dealer markup. If I can't opt out of a package, by definition it is mandatory.

furthermore, by using the 4 square deal there is not the breakdown and disclosure you suggested. If you liked I can produce proper itemized breakdown from the other Kia dealership I purchased the SUV from the next day.

Now that I called the dealership out of the BS it is suddenly optional....
I prefer to leave this review as a warning to others instead of having a private discussion with the GM where others will not be warned about the underhanded practices.

Recently went in and purchased my first dealer vehicle. Had driven rust buckets off Kijiji for years and won't go back. I ended up with a much newer, nicer vehicle than I could've imagined, for less interest than the bank wanted ;). Second day I came out of my house and my heart sunk, we all know that tiny oil spot, and its effects. Well, day 4 (only had to wait 2 days because of weekend hours), it was fixed, free of charge, yes on my USED model vehicle.i was incredibly happy with my salesman Rashad and recommend going to them if you're in the market for used. Great staff, and they have buyers, so keep in mind make isn't limited to Kia.

Buyer beware!!!

You do not want to purchase a vehicle from this dealership. We purchased a truck August 2018 and the paperwork was forged by the employee to add coverage that we did not agree to or discuss. They added the cost of this coverage to our financing. They did this expecting that most customers won’t contact their financing company to request a balance, this is when I realized that this additional expense was added. The person forged our signature and added forms to the purchase to justify the addition of coverage that were never discussed or seen.
The ownership was made aware of this and did nothing to resolve the situation of this. Instead he fired all employees associated with the transaction. This won’t resolve the situation as the ownership is responsible for the actions of their employees.
Do not spend a second considering doing business with this company. This is not the only dealership they own so do your research. We are filing a report with the CALGARY police today to investigate and hopefully recover the money they fraudulently stole from us.

Eric Farrell is the go-to guy. I had a car I hated, couldn't stand it, but with my complex credit situation I had no choice. So I thought.
Came to Northland KIA, called ahead, Eric greeted me at the door.
He asked a few questions about why I hated my current car, then left to grab one.
He knew exactly what I wanted in a car immediately. I'm stubborn and test drove other vehicles they had, but the one he picked was the one I wanted. He knew that.
Eric and the sales team worked tirelessly for a week straight dealing with my complicated credit situation and sorted it all out. Got me exactly what I wanted.
No sales pressure, no up-selling, no top-down selling, no hidden fees or obnoxious tack-on expenses. Exactly what I wanted, no question.
It was by far the best experience I've had with a dealership. I'll be telling everyone to go here.
This dealership as a whole is amazing.

I called first, then when I got there Darren was coming out the door & asked if I was Nadine. That impressed me. He said he would be back in a minute. Darren had great customer service skills. I went in not knowing what I wanted, I just needed a reliable, affordable & good on gas. I test drove a silver Fonta I think it was. I didn't like it & Darren could tell. He then let me test drive a Mazda & that was definitely not what I wanted. Darren said he had one more for me to take for a spin with & it was a 2015 Black Kia Soul. As soon as a sat in her we both knew i was taking it home, but i didn't tell him that. I had to go test drive another vehicle that i booked before i went to Kia. Darren & his Manager kept asking me what it would take to keep me there. They were very polite & really wanted me to stay, but didn't push to hard. I went & test drove the different car at a different dealership. It was a piece of garbage. But then I told the guy that I needed a car today. He said good luck with my search & let me walk off the lot. I went to another dealership across the road & waited 15 min before any one said hello. I left that dealership & went back to Kia. Darren helped me all the way through my purchase of my beautiful black soul. Darren still answers my calls & text when I have questions. Plus I have had to deal with service desk there & they are great too. I highly recommend Northland Kia.

Beware of the $1300 in hidden fees that they don’t mention until you’ve made an offer. A $700 “admin fee” which he stated was “for the financing team”, despite us not financing the car, then backtracked and suggested it was actually a standard dealer fee for “dealing with the transaction” which took a total of 45 minutes. That’s a fantastic billable rate. These guys are shady, just be very careful if you don’t have a lot of vehicle knowledge and mind the hidden fees.

Service is good with certain service agents, but you kind of have to tell them so they actually step up their game.
Shuttle drivers are usually good but I got a very very rude one one time that left me stranded in the c-train station when I said I was a minute away, he decided to leave, when I have waited for them in the past for 15/20 min.
Also the dealership should offer shuttle anywhere in the city, like other dealerships do, not just to the c-train Station.

Amazing experience. They provided lunch while we hash out details of our purchase to help stave off the "hangry" feeling. The staff was able to accommodate our requests and have us driving away with our vehicle that night.

Very sorry to hear about your sales experience. We have many satisfied customers and have been in business many years. Some of our past sales staff were never trained properly in customer service. March 2013, this has changed.

My experience working for Northland Kia for the past few years has been great. When you are happy working somewhere it is easy to treat customers right! We now have an experienced sales and service staff.

Also, I see a customer had some vehicle problems on the highway and complains of having to call a tow truck. Very sorry for that experience. The salesperson should have advised that every buyer gets FIVE(5) years of FREE roadside assistance from Kia Canada. The emergency number is on the driver window of each car delivered. Every manufacturer is going to have the odd problem vehicle and this is why Kia is nice to offer this free service.

I went to have a block heater installed on my car. They offered a complimentary wash and filled up my wiper fluid. They also did a check on the car. Customer service was excellent, it didn't take long and I was kept updated.
The facilities are nice but the couches could be a bit more comfortable.
I didn't see a kids area, which would be very handy in case I need to take my children with me.
Overall, I was very pleased with my visit.

I would suggest to be careful when buying a car. I made most of my arrangements on-line and when I went there I asked them to show me the details of what I was going to buy. What a surprise for me was to find they have included a "protection package" I did not asked for. Then, I left telling them I will think if I really wanted to buy the car. A couple of days after I went again there and I found the expected monthly payment to be different (higher) than the previous one. I did ask again to review the details of what I was buying and now they had a "KIA package" I did not see before. Finally we came to an agreement for me to buy the car. What was my surprise that two days after they asked me to initial a document where they have replaced the previous VIN of the car for a different one. My feeling was they sold me car and they delivered a different one to me.
I was not happy with that; so, I wrote a letter to a managing partner of Northland KIA letting him know about all the issues I faced during the process. That was a week ago and I have not hear from him. I would not recommend this place to buy a car.

I did alot of research and finally purchased a Kia Sorento from Zubair Qaderi. His knowledge and service were excellent. He picked me up at the airport and I bought the vehicle "sight-unseen". Everything was exactly as written and I am very happy (and I'm normally a picky customer). Thanks alot Zubair. I recommend you to speak to him if you're looking to buy a Kia.

The service department here really is something special. They treat me great every time I come here.

To be more specific I bought my 2012 sorento from another dealer but these guys treat me like one of their own regardless. The prices are decent but really the way they always go the extra mile when they don't have to is the reason I keep coming back.

A Little Disappointed with the dealership, the car and their service. Bought 2016 Kia Sedona
Sales:
Xmas time: I was trading in my Pilot and had allot of negative equity in it. We negotiated and signed on a deal. On the day of signing, the deal changed and we wanted to change our minds into purchasing the car. No matter what we said, they would not call off the deal. we negotiated again and worked out on another deal. I had other commitments I had to get to so my wife and I signed. We didnt want to but pretty much had to in order to get out of the office.
Winter Tire offer: They are Frost Extreme Tires, which are budget winter tires. Noticed that when the vehicle was not gripping properly during winter. They mentioned the tires were worth $800...a little research, these tires cost max $300. Blizzaks cost $500 at costco which includes installation and balancing.
The Car:
Washer fluid leak-went through a bottle of washer fluid every 3 days. told the dealer, they looked at it. it was warranty work
Speedometer - I took the car out on a road trip. I noticed when I did 110km/h, I was actually doing 103km/h. I checked my GPS/Phone, both confirmed car was going 7Km/h slower. brought it up with the dealer
Alignment - is off. when driving on the highway, i noticed vehicle leering to the left allot. told the dealer. Alignment was going to cost me $90. This is A BRAND NEW CAR!!! why is the alignment off??
Tire Swap - Winter to All seasons - cost is $130 as the tires are not on the rims. I will get it done, but starting this year, I am going to try and sell the budget tires and buy Blizzak's from Costco. For swapping, Costco charges $12/tire if not on the rim. $48 in total compared to $160.
Service Hours - for warranty work, only open M-F. I was told on Saturdays the licensed mechanics don't work and Saturday's was just for regular 'maintenance work (oil, etc...). My wife had to make other arrangements on her own to take 6 children to school.
I miss my Honda Pilot! Never experienced such a hassle & inconveniences.

Very sorry to hear about your sales experience. We have many satisfied customers and have been in business many years. Some of our past sales staff were never trained properly in customer service. March 2013, this has changed.

My experience working for Northland Kia for the past few years has been great. When you are happy working somewhere it is easy to treat customers right! We now have an experienced sales and service staff.

Also, I see a customer had some vehicle problems on the highway and complains of having to call a tow truck. Very sorry for that experience. The salesperson should have advised that every buyer gets FIVE(5) years of FREE roadside assistance from Kia Canada. The emergency number is on the driver window of each car delivered. Every manufacturer is going to have the odd problem vehicle and this is why Kia is nice to offer this free service.
