Left our car with them at my appointment time 8:30am I had to call at 1:45pm asked if they had found the issue after being put on hold for 5 mins lol they could say was not sure we don't have the information sheet yet the mechanic still has it. Going on over an hour since that call still have heard from them. Extremely unimpressed with their customer service and will never bring my Toyota back to them. If I could I would give them a zero rating

This is my thank you message to Marty, the service manager. I was traveling home (far drive) and when I passed by Vandermeer Toyota's town (on the highway), one of my run flats was punctured and there is no spare because it's a run flat. I would not make it home on the flated run-flat so I went into the town to look for a tire that can last me home at least. Everywhere I called just simply answered "no, we don't have that or anything that can save you", except for Marty! Although his dealership did not have any tire to save me but he went extra and beyond to ask his connections and located a set of used that saved me. Whether or not you found the spare set Marty I would like you to know that I sincerely appreciated your help and I will pay it forward to help others. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

The website claims they have a shuttle service, yet they can't even help you get home or have a vehicle to lend. so you must sit here for the 3-5 hours depending on your appointment or spend $25.00 one way for a Taxi cab. I'm Not impressed one bit, the Vandermeer difference is what exactly.

Marty in Service is the most friendly, knowledgeable, helpful person at a , dealership that I have ever met. He is always willing to talk to you and sort out what ever issue you have. He never rushes with you and listens well. This individual in Service alone makes it totally worth your while to go to Cobourg and buy from this dealer. When my truck broke and I took it to another dealer; he even offered to supply a rental since the other dealer was not willing to help out under warranty. I have also found the sales department very knowledgeable about the vehicles as they drive them on their own time and provide valuable info before you buy.

I just purchased a 2019 CHR from Mike at Vandermeer Toyota! This is a fantastic business that's been around for a while it seems! They have a reputation for outstanding quality, honesty, and integrity, and they didn’t fall short of this! The entire process especially given the situation due to covid19 couldn’t have been easier! I felt safe as they took all safety precautions very serious at each stage! The buying process was very positive, and I left with a great deal on my new (used) car. I will go back here again because of the excellent customer service and high quality vehicles. All the staff from the finance team to the sales representatives were all knowledgeable and friendly! No one had time to go over the vehicle upon pick up. Everyone seemed to be in a rush to get me going out the door. I later found out they forgot to install the hood deflector I paid for.
Always had good experiences servicing my previous vehicle at Vandermeer's. Staff are nice and knowledgeable. Services were always completed well and in a timely manner.
I traded my car in recently and Joe and Mike were great. I dealt more with Mike and he was always more than happy to answer any questions or offer information. Angela from finance was great at explaining and reviewing the paperwork.

Went to the Vandermeer Toyota dealership in Cobourg the other day and not one sales person approached me. Finally a sales guy came out with, I’m assuming another customer seeing him on his way out the door. Then the sales guys made eye contact with me and walked back into the building. I thought what am I invisible... I went into the building asking if I could speak to someone about one of the vehicles on the lot. I spoke with the girl at the front desk who asked another salesman walking by who appeared to be helping another client unlike the other two socializing in an office. He looked at a clipboard and said Joseph is up then looked at the guys in the office and said you’re up next Joseph. The Joseph replied ‘I guess so’..... I was told I could speak with him when I went to his office I asked why is it that not all of the vehicles have the price/information stickers on them? Then he said in a VERY rude and belittling voice most people look online for the information. The I said I did that and that is why I am here to get more information on one of the vehicles you’re selling. With his cocky smile he says oh I sold that to the guy he leased it and bought a Tacoma.... with his cocky arrogant smirk said “it’s a truck”..... I replied I’m well aware it’s a truck!!!! If I were a guy I wouldn’t be treated like this. I have never been treated with such a complete lack of respect. This is an example of gender discrimination!!!!!!! I had all intentions to purchase a vehicle here but this poor display of customer service was disappointing..... I wonder if I was a man would they have treated me differently? Very disappointing customer service........

Service is fast and friendly. I've gone for oil changes, maintenance, safety checks and more. I did ask for a part to be ordered and was forgotten about but it only took a week to get it in. Luckily it was nothing urgent.

Heard rumors that there's a recall currently out for Toyota Corolla with a CVT transmission (year 2014-18). I contacted the salesman who sold me my car. He lied: told me there's no recall. I went to the Toyota Canada website, entered my VIN and saw that there is a recall notice. I subsequently called another dealership who confirmed the recall. Went to the other Toyota dealer and got it addressed.
It's dangerous to lie about a recall notice - hence the 1 star.
They are always nice and friendly, the shop is clean, but you pay dearly for it.
Took my wife's car in for some warranty work and everything was fixed professionally and properly. Washer fluid was topped up ans tire pressure checked as a courtesy. So glad we found Vandermeer Toyota to service our 4Runner since moving from Toronto.
Everybody is so friendly and helpful just like you would expect at a small-town dealership. Treated like a friend, not a number.

I bought a 2015 Sienna about 3 weeks ago and was impressed by all the people that I came in contact. They are really very customer service oriented. I have to say that this is by far the best car purchasing experience that I've had, and this is far from my first car. There was a small issue with the delivery of the vehicle but they made it a priority for everyone to get it right and get it to me with minimal delay; I am very satisfied with how it worked out. I will certainly go back to them again and will recommend them to friends and family.

I am very happy with the care and attention from Justin at Vandermeer Toyota. The used Toyota Camry was my first purchase from Vandermeer and I am pleased with the vehicle and the customer service experience. I will be returning when looking for my next vehicle. The vehicle was sold to me with newer looking tires that caused a shake. I returned to the dealership to have the tires balanced, but the shake got worse. The dealer put on a loaner set of wheels/ tires, but the shake was still there. They then suggested that the truck needed a brand new set of Michelin tires. They suggested that we should split on the cost. As I paid very close to the asking price of the used truck, meaning that their markup from what they gave the previous owner on trade would easily allow them to put the new tires on and still have a handsome profit, I informed them that I didn't think this was fair and that I thought I bought an expensive truck that had a good set of tires on it and on that didn't have a shake. They then suggested that if I paid $500 towards the cost, they would pay the rest. I told them that this was not acceptable but countered that if they gave me an equal credit at the dealership to be used for service/ parts, or maintenance, I would agree. This would give them an opportunity to keep me as a customer. The $500 credit would not actually cost the dealership $500 as it would be at dealer cost. They did not accept my counter offer and maintained that I should pay $500 towards the new tires. This meant that they were willing to let me walk away from the dealership for around $250 (actual dealer cost) and tell people how I was treated at the dealership. This also means that they are giving up any chance of being able to upsell me in their service department or have an opportunity in the future to purchase another vehicle from their store. I ended up paying the $500 and getting the new tires. I still have a shake which has been diagnosed as a tire out of round by a local reputable shop. The dealership has ordered the tire for me but I do not have it yet, nor do I know if it will solve the issue.
I took delivery near the end of March and this issue just got resolved. I have never owned or serviced at a Toyota dealer in the past and hope this is not the way Toyota expects the dealers to treat their customers, but I have already cautioned a couple of people I work with about buying from this dealer.
I have been a customer of Vandermeer Toyota for over 20 years...I have bought numerous new and used vehicles including one of each in the past 12 months. They always have a great selection of top notch used vehicles at competitive prices. The management and staff from sales and service have always been very friendly and professional.
They are the only dealer in Cobourg I would consider buying a vehicle from or servicing my vehicles.
