Great service - punctual, friendly and very helpful. Recently had to turn in my Forrester for two manufacturer recall inspections. It was very easy to set an appointment to accomplish both in one visit. Once in I was told it would take ~1.5hrs, and it was so, spot on. Having experienced both the purchase and maintenance side of the house I would highly recommend Centaur to anyone looking to invest in a Subaru and wanting reassurance that they will receive excellent and helpful follow up service when needed.

Easiest car buying experience I've ever had. Ralph treated every member of the family with respect knowing that a vehicle is part of everyone's day-to-day life. I didn't feel any pressure when he explained additional options. Rob in finance made closing very simple and even recommended a good USB cable, that has nothing to do with Subaru, that won't wear over time as we use the phone features.

I definitely recommend this place to buy a car in Calgary. First off having been to other Subaru car dealership I can tell you Centaur Subaru has good practices in place. No pushy sales people like Calgary Subaru dealership and more importantly they are transparent about the pricing. I was helped by Lewis and Manpreet who were easy to deal with. Wow! Drove 40 minutes to wait three hours, only to be told that the wrong part was ordered! I have only owned a Subaru for 6 months, have visited two different Subaru service departments with poor outcomes from both, and had hoped for better from Centaur. Not sure what to expect for future servicing, or where to go. Update: Parts are in for the first trip in, and the parts to repair the damages done by tech at original service appointment. Original three hour appointment has now turned into a 5 hour appointment. I have been asked by dealership to lower my expectations when having service/warranty work completed. Out of town customers are expected to wait at the dealership for the 5 hours while work is being completed. No service loaners. No care.

First visit to the dealer for a recall on my 2018 WRX. Service staff were friendly as well as the sales staff (waited on the car as it was a minor inspection). No issues and the work was completed quickly.

My only negative comment is the parking needs to be improved. I wasn’t 100% sure where to park and what parking there was seemed to be in very short supply.

I will certainly consider bring my vehicle back for future work.

The primary reason for the service was a safety recall replacement of the passenger front air bag.

I had added two service items which were completed as quoted.

During the vehicle inspection, the technician also identified 3 other important items which required service.
I was contacted and provided with an estimate. I approved the work and it was completed professionally and as estimated in cost and time.

Will I would rather have not had to spend the additional amount, I was treated as a valued customer and the work was completed well and on time.

Centaur Subaru will receive my repeat business in the future.

I say that specifically because we had gone to another dealership before coming here and the salesperson there who claimed to have a lot of experience was blatantly trying to rip us off and was not honest. Didn’t have much expectations before coming here but I must say I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely recommend anyone to shop here.
Rob in the finance team was also a pleasure to deal with. Overall an amazing experience!

Substandard service and hidden charges.

I took my Forester in for type D service. As I already changed oil myself, I mentioned to exclude oil change during this service and just perform other ones (e.g. transmission fluid change and differential fluid change, etc). However, labour charge still included oil change.

Also, after I got my car the time and radio settings were wrong and the car had to relearn its idle? Maybe they forgot to put a memory saver before disconnecting the battery or was it a job left for the customer to complete?

When they were done they parked my car on an incline without using parking brake.

From this level of service and attention to detail I question whether they did other tasks properly.

Really substandard service and does not well represent the Subaru brand. There are many better independent shops out there are better than this one.

I brought my car to Centaur Subaru for an airbag recall a couple of weeks ago, but the work was completed very poorly and dealing with this has wasted a lot of my time.

When they finished the recall they called me, letting me know that my car was ready to go. However, when I got there I found out there was a lot they hadn't told me over the phone. The lady at the service counter informed me that my car had a bent AC cable, so they had ordered one for me. What she actually meant was, they had broken that while swapping the airbags. There was a lot more to this as well. I had a loose cable in the footwell, right above the pedals. My dash cam's cable couldn't reach my dash cam anymore as it was stuck inside the SRS cover of the passenger side A-pillar, directly on top of the air bag itself (obviously a pretty significant hazard in case of an airbag deployment). On top of this my dash had developed a number of rattles behind it, as well as at both A-pillars. I also discovered a box with an airbag just sitting on my back seat. The state of my vehicle certainly made me doubt the quality of the actual airbag install as well.

In any case, I decided to give Centaur the benefit of the doubt. I brought back the box with the airbag and spoke to the service manager. I showed him all of the issues and he promised this is not the kind of work they normally do and all of this would be looked after. I brought my vehicle a third time to get this resolved a couple of days ago. A few hours later I got the call that finally all was well. It was not. The issues with the dash rattles and hanging cable were resolved, but my dash cam cable was actually buried at the back of the A-pillar, making it impossible to remove it from my vehicle without taking off the A-pillar SRS cover. At least there was some effort put into this, so that alone wouldn't make me too upset. What did make me very upset is that the AC switch was not fixed properly at all. Right now it doesn't go all the way to the right, it just snaps back.

Now I have to go to Centaur for a FOURTH time, so I have no patience left for this incompetence.

We stopped in here to talk to Tom McKinnon after finding ourselves with free time due to a very unfruitful negotiation with another dealer. We'd done some research and knew what we would reasonably be willing to offer for an Ascent. Tom and the sales manager (Peter) were great to work with and we had a deal within minutes. Most painless and agreeable negotiation I've ever done and we saved a significant amount over what the other dealer was willing to do. We joked with them that they didn't even let us have the fun of negotiating! Do your research, and then go talk to these guys with a reasonable offer. We were certainly glad we did!

I went in January 16 2020 to test drive a car. First I was going to do the Ascent, but I sat in the outback first and then the Ascent. Well I wanted to test drive the outback. Instead the “sales guy” is showing me the Models Of drive chassis of the cars. I said “I wanted to do a test drive. NOT SHOW ME A MODEL”!
He refused. I walked out!! What is wrong with people. By the way I am a 48 year old woman. Driving since I was 16. Have had numerous cars. So women be warned don’t go as they are still living in the dark ages!!

Generally speaking, I've had a great experience at this dealership. From the moment I bought my forester to the first couple of maintenance checks shortly thereafter.

However, as time went on and as issues arose with vehicles as they do, my experience with the service department turned quite frustrating. The shop manager became rather inept at making simple phone calls to keep me updated and I had to constantly stay on top of the staff to monitor every move from there out. Including when it came to billing when I discovered that a $33 air filter they said they replaced, until recently (9 months later) I checked and it was almost black. Pretty sure that doesn't happen to a supposed new filter that supposed to last 15,000km.

This place has alot of potential, don't let it slip away!

Update after one year of ownership: not a dealership I would work with again.

$650 for an oil change, filter replacement, and alignment on a 13 month old car. Less than 2.5 hours of work. Poor documentation. Not recommended unless you have money to burn.

For prospective car buyers: a major downside to buying a Subaru in Calgary is the poor dealership service given the relatively few options. In my direct experience, maintaining a new Subaru at a dealership in Calgary costs roughly double that of a dealer maintained Honda.

I have to be honest that I am very disappointed with this dealership, I leased a brand new car for 2 years and never ever received anything service call, e-mails from dealership,no one call me when my leasing is going to expire. So I called them and booked an appointment with the sales agent, the sales agent didn't tell me I need to book an appointment to return the car, even I asked him many times on return policy, all they care are sales ! In my opinion this is the best place to buy a car in Calgary. I’ve visited several other dealers before and had very unpleasant experiences. Then I came to this place and talked to Andrew. He is probably one of the most honest sales person in the industry. I highly recommend Andrew at Centaur. He did not try to push any products to me. He was genuinely interested on my need and helped me to select what I wanted. He offered me a good price as well. The most important thing about Centaur and Andrew is the transparacy in pricing. There were no hidden charges or hidden fees presented to me.
It was a great pleasure working with Andrew and team Centaur. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. I’d definitely be buying my next car from Andrew.

Normally able to fit me in even if I mistakenly take on wrong day. Shuttle drivers are friendly and knowledgeable. My sales experience when I bought new was as good as can get I believe (for me), I hate the buying of a new vehicle as it's stressful. My suggestion to Subaru is never ask me about my purchase till after a few weeks and the trauma has gone down. This is not a reflection of your sales team but of me, I'm a little weird. What I love most about buying Subaru is resell value and being able to get where you need to be under almost any road conditions with confidence.

Over the years, I have dealt with several dealerships, for several car manufacturers. I must say that this was the most pleasant experience making business with a great team of professionals. I spent more time asking questions about the vehicle I wanted and doing the test drive than negotiations or conversations with the financial department. Dealing with these guys was a breeze and I would definitely come back. Kudos to Andrew, a Subaru aficionado who works at this dealership. I met him six weeks before closing the deal and he was not pushy at all, but showed a genuine willingness to help and answer my questions. When I came back, he could remember what I wanted, treated me with great respect and did his best to explain every single question I had. He even offered a ride home.
This dealership also offers the block heater as part of the sale, so you don’t need to worry about adding that to your vehicle. They offered me a variety of accessories and prices to choose from, so I did not need to get expensive protection packages with items I did not need. There were no hidden fees and they were very upfront about the timelines to deliver my vehicle and specific accessories that were not in stock. Great dealership to do business with.

We had to use our Subaru Roadside assistance the other day for a flat tire and they towed our car to Centaur Subaru. I was really worried about the cost, as I have heard horror stories of getting repairs at a dealership but it cost us 39 dollars, they were able to patch the tire. We were so relieved and grateful for their honesty and amazing customer service and care.

This location is quite small and a bit awkward to get to from the South but the friendly faces and honesty is worth the visit.

Passing along my heartfelt gratitude for everything Dan Martin did to enhance my recent Subaru Legacy purchase.
Even though I ended up purchasing from another dealership, Dan still played a positive role in the entire sales process. After accompanying me on a test drive, Dan patiently addressed my series of questions. He promised he’d do whatever he could to help me receive the best deal possible on a 2019 Legacy with a 3.6L engine.

Just moved to Calgary and bought a used Subaru; needed a service. Was initially very put off by the rude/dismissive attitude of the female reception person (although the man there, RICK, was AWESOME!)
I walked out and later called to speak to the manager, Dan. He was very understanding and appreciated my call, knowing that customer service is vital.
Went back the next day (female was not there) and had both recalls done, plus the $60 servicing - NO CHARGE!
