My experience with the Sherwood Hyundai service department has been completely frustrating. This will be long winded but it is a series of frustrations that has let to this review.
It started in January of 2020 when my car was having mechanical problems. I brought it to the dealership and they told me the issue was my transmission. After about a week of waiting, they told me the transmission would be covered under warranty. It took about 2 weeks for them to fix my car. All of which time they promised me a courtesy car which never came. Three days after receiving my car back, it broke down again. This time I was told it was the clutch and this would not be covered by warranty. It seems strange that the clutch was fine before they changed the transmission. I suspect the transmission and clutch we not properly aligned. Two more weeks of fighting with Hyundai without a car. Again, I was told I would get a courtesy car which never came. Once the car was properly fixed at another Hyundai dealer in Leduc most of the problems went away. This was until I had my snow tires changed out. When the car was at Sherwood Hyundai in Jan, they had swapped my front tires as a "courtesy" saying that they we on the wrong side and the groves needed to be swapped. While doing so, two of the lug nuts were cross threaded on the front passenger side and the lug bolts snapped off when the tire was being removed. Again, this was an additional cost that was not covered by Sherwood Hyundai, and even worse, they tried to sell me the wrong lugs for the wheel. Good thing I went to another dealer to confirm the parts. Finally, while driving the car on highway 16 during the early hours of the morning, the panoramic sunroof spontaneously shattered. This is a known issue and there was a class action lawsuit in the US. Because of this Hyundai has extended the warranty for the panoramic sunroof (includes rock damage or spontaneous shattering) for 10 years or 120 thousand miles. When I brought my car to Sherwood Hyundai, they said this is not covered in Canada. Doing a google search shows this is a major issue and many dealers have honored this warranty. But of course, Sherwood Hyundai does NOT.
I do not recommend Sherwood Hyundai for anything, especially servicing your vehicle. They make lots of promises but do not deliver.

I’m leasing a Kona from Sherwood Hyundai. I have nothing but good things to say about the vehicle.

My experience was alright leading up to the lease. Staff was friendly and helpful, but a little pushy when it came to speeding up the process/get something done that they want. Calling multiple times a day to drop off paperwork immediately, whether I was at work or not. Quite pushy to get a positive review after the fact, as well. I understand it’s important for their job performance reviews, but calling and leaving messages every day is a bit much.

A second credit check was done randomly, which lowered my credit score. I called to ask why and they said they had no idea why and blamed it on the head Hyundai finance department. If a mistake is made, that’s alright. It would be nice if they put in a bit of effort to fix the problem they made, though..

Kept us up to date the hole time and gave us a courtesy vehicle to use the entire time. I purchased all of my vehicles from here. The last one I bought the package that fixes all scratches and dings. So my warranty was almost up so I brought it in to get just that done. When I got my car back, not only did they use a different tint of paint color, they only covered 3 of the scratches. At that point I was happy because my car doesn't look like a bad nail polish job from front to back. The service guy said he would contact the contractors who did this job and call me back. I never received a call and my money for this package was wasted. I don't recommend this purchase add on. It isn't lived up to.

The staff is great though. The service department is quick. I will purchase my vehicles elsewhere going forward though.

Zack was very easy to work with. He was not your typical aggressive sales person, which we very much appreciated considering how many bad sales people we have come across in the weeks prior. Nora from finance was also great to work with. Previous finance staff from other dealerships were pushy and tried to force additional costs. I made an appointment to have a tire pressure monitoring system installed. I was told they would have to balance the tires which would be expected as weight would be added by installing the pressure sensors. When I got the vehicle back there was a terrible vibration. I called in & set up an appointment to have the tires re-balanced & said I would wait for it to be completed. I was told they would make sure it was done promptly & would take about an hour.

I brought the vehicle in at 9:00 for the scheduled appointment. At about 10:05 I was advised by the service advisor that the tires were worn & they could balance them but couldn’t guarantee it would solve the issue. I questioned him about them being balanced & he said they were not balanced even though I was told they would be originally. He then said it would be 100.00 to get them balanced. I should have been told when I made the second appointment that the tires were not balanced originally. Why did it take an hour just to tell me they would need to be balanced? I would then have to wait another hour to get my vehicle back! I was totally frustrated & said I would take it elsewhere to get it taken care of.

To top this off I was given a list of recommended services from their “WORLD CLASS MULTI POINT INSPECTION”. On this list were replace front brakes at a fail, replace rear brakes at a caution & replace windshield at a fail. The brakes were replaced less than 1,000 kms ago and the windshield was replaced in May and is in perfect condition.

I was sent an email with the subject "Your Satisfaction Is Our Priority at Sherwood Park Hyundai". The email stated that I may be asked to complete a survey by Hyundai Canada and "If for any reason you are unable to respond to this survey with "yes", please reach out to me so we can address / rectify any concerns you may have in a timely fashion."

I responded to the email and almost 2 weeks later I am still awaiting a response. I guess that is how their customers are treated.

Customers be wary of the services they recommend. It may be wise to get a second opinion.

After this post I received a call from the service manager who explained it was all due to a misunderstanding by the service advisor who apparently was new and inexperienced. With the help of social media this issue has been resolved.

I called the tire shop and took my car in for them to check it out. The tires are not separating! They are safe. I have a small hop in my rotation is all. No reason at all to say they are separating. Now I question the abilities and skills of the technicians working on my car at Hyundai.

I had previously gone to another location for some diagnostics for engine problems. They diagnosed my vehicle and told me nothing was covered under warranty and it was going to cost me an arm and a leg. I tried fixing the issues on my own but it didn't fix the problem after all . My dad took my car to Sherwood Park location and they were incredibly helpful and accommodating for him to get my car fixed for me. They washed my car complimentary and drove him to and from home in the same day. They were quick in fixing my car and were thorough. All of the work (same as what the other location diagnosed) was covered under warranty and the people (Glenn specifically ) were friendly and extremely helpful. Thank you for helping ease my stress and going above and beyond in customer sservice and customer satisfaction. Kris Richards responded to my internet inquiry within minutes and answered all my questions on the vehicle we were looking at. When I asked for pictures he then went out to the vehicle and provided me what I was looking for. I then gave him an offer for the vehicle and he immediately took it to his manager and got back to me within the hour. He then took a small deposit so the vehicle could be held till we could get to Sherwood Park from Calgary the next day. The next day we were greeted with a smile and complete inspection of the vehicle before we took it for a test drive. We happily came to an agreement and within a couple of hours we had purchased the vehicle. All the people we dealt with at the dealership were very friendly and helpful.
Even though it was a 3 hour drive it was more than worth it. Highly recommend Kris and Sherwood Park Hyundai.

The staff were friendly every time we walked in the door. Sully and Shaun were excellent, they both had a very relaxed sales approach and they both appreciated how big of a decision, and investment buying a vehicle is.

They kept me well informed throughout the process and let me test drive as many vehicles as was necessary to find the right fit for my budget and lifestyle. They also took the time to explain all the features of each vehicle, even if it was the same model, just a different trim line. Cost and budget were only discussed when I was ready and I never felt rushed to give them an answer. They also made it possible for me to take my potential new vehicle home overnight, just so I was absolutely sure it was the vehicle for me. I recently found myself unexpectedly having to purchase a new vehicle. After searching online and contacting a few different dealerships I, on a whim because I was in the area, popped into Sherwood Park Hyundai.

I was worried about the typical car dealership experience, however Sam was incredibly patient and such a relief to have as a sales person. He showed me a couple of options within my budget and really looked to find the best bang for my buck! He listened to my concerns about downsizing from a truck to a commuter vehicle. There was zero pressure to close a sale that day!

After doing my due diligence of looking into other dealerships (with some absolutely horrendous results) and vehicle makes, I went back to Sherwood Hyundai. They allowed me to take a vehicle out for an extended test drive as I was concerned about how I would feel driving a much smaller vehicle then I was used to on my daily highway commute. That offer and the ability to do that made the world of a difference for me!

I had gone into the dealership 3 times before the question of my financing options even came up. Other dealerships wanted to pull my credit rating as soon as I walked in the door. It wasn't until I brought it up that we started the financing options on the vehicle i was prepared to purchase.

The reason I am giving a four over a five star review is that there was some unappreciated pressure once the sales manager was involved and I do not respond well to pressure!

Sam and Sully were hands down the best car sales people I have had the pleasure of doing business with! They were friendly, inviting & treated me more like a friend then a potential pay cheque.

Nora in financing was assuring and a pleasure to deal with when it came time to sign all the paperwork.

I reserve my review of the actual Hyundai vehicle until i've had it for more then 2 days, but I am extremely happy with my recent purchase and I am hoping that the experience with it in the next couple of years is as pleasant as the experience was with the team at Sherwood Hyundai.

I have always had great service at Sherwood Park Hyundai! The staff are always helpful and explain options but are never pushy about which choices to make. They are forthcoming to offer fixes under warranty and make suggestions for maintenance. In fact, they did a less costly option without my having to ask. Oil changes and service are easy and fast. No matter who I talk to, staff is knowledgeable and helpful.

I have dealt with Glen in service for a few years now and he has been a valuable source of information and tips about my car. He really gets to know his clients and this trust and respect make me happy to return to have my car taken care of at this location. He prepared a professional report with things that required immediate, near future, and perhaps nice to do, and went through each in detail, outlining cost and why these were required but didn’t rush me to do anything and let me evaluate.

I have always been completely satisfied with the work and service, no matter how big or small.

We had a handful of vehicles that we were interested in. All of them different makes, so I had to hit as many dealerships as possible in order to try to compare the vehicles to one another while all the details were fresh in my mind. Yes, Hyundai had the best vehicle that fit our wants and needs, but it wasn't what made our experience there exceptional. We were greeted immediately and made to feel relaxed. -Not asked to throw out payment numbers, trade-in info and DNA samples to go for a test drive. :) Rosemarie, our sales person, possessed a down to earth character and calm demeanor that told us that here the car will sell itself and she will do all she can to make it a smooth transaction. Unfortunately, my husband was unable to join me that day, so she offered for us to take the car home and have him see it after hours when he was able to. We took an additional day to determine if now was the time for us to purchase, and were very appreciative that we were not bombarded by phone calls or managers desperate to get our business within the hour. When we did decide to go ahead, Rosemarie came in on her days off to make sure everything was seamless and all the requirements were met. Sherwood Park Hyundai went above and beyond to track down the exact model we wanted. They even had a truck swing by the dealership and drop in off en route to another dealership. Additional thanks to Brian Robb and Doug Trieu in financing, as well as Scott Hourie and Robin Do in management. We love our vehicle and will be back!

A year and a half later I traded it in for a brand new Sonata. My credit had increased and my interest rate dropped from 16.9% to 8.9%! They were so friendly and full of helpful advice! They were able to work within my budget and narrowed down to exactly what I needed before I even took a testdrive or saw anything! They definitely took the pain out of buying a new vehicle and worked with me every step of the way. I recently had a need to purchase tires for my 2014 Jetta GLI. I had looked at multiple vendors including Sherwood Park Hyundai. While I knew that I could find the product I was looking for at places like Tire Warehouse, Just Tires and other shops like these, I remembered the service both my wife and myself have received time and again from the Parts and Service departments of Sherwood Park Hyundai. Having shopped and compared availability as well as pricing, I balanced that against the known customer service I had received at SPH before.

I've bought two vehicles from Sherwood Park Hyundai, a brand new Hyundai last year and a used Chevy truck a few months ago. Both the sales and service staff are very friendly and helpful. They always greet me by name and make me feel really welcome, which I didn't exactly expect from a dealership. They busted their butts to make things happen for me and I was really thrilled with that. I've gone to them for every service done to either vehicle and they've always done a fantastic job at taking care of things. The services are estimated well and done quickly. They offer a really good shuttle service if I've got to wait a while for something as well. They're always doing their best to make me happy when I go in, and I'd definitely recommend anyone to go check them out.
