I can’t even begin to tell you how disappointed I am with my decision to purchase a used car from Eastgate Ford in Hamilton, Ontario.
Some background. In February 6, 2020 I purchased a used Ford Focus from Eastgate Ford. Overall at that time the experience was pretty smooth. I was fortunate that I was able to purchase both the car and also Ford’s extended insurance policy outright for cash. At the time, the only issue was when, at the time of signing my paperwork I was surprised, as was their own finance person and my salesperson that a car, which was supposed to be accident free, was in fact not accident free. It seems that the previous owner had a branch fall on the car hood and had repaired it. To be fair here it was evident that they were being honest with me about their not knowing this until I was sitting in the office with them. I was assured that the repair was “just cosmetic”. I signed the paperwork and drove off with my car.
As everyone is aware, very quickly after this the world shut down. On March 18th, 2020 we were all put into COVID lockdown. As someone who lives with an 80-year old I took the order seriously. By this time I had noticed that my weather stripping on the passenger door was damaged. Additionally, during the lockdown period I observed that a small section of the clear coat on my paint on the front right passenger side just disappeared and it was dull underneath. I have owned cars for close to 40 years now and have NEVER experienced my paint being damaged. Especially for a car that was driven very little from the time it was purchased.
However, given the lockdown I wasn’t able to get the matter looked after with Eastgate. Especially given that I live in Peel Region which has had a slower opening schedule. In fact, we have just this past Friday July 31st, 2020 went into Phase 3 while other regions, including Hamilton, were already there.
On June 22nd, 2020 Peel region went into Phase 2. Like most people there was a laundry list of things that had to be addressed once we were a

10 minutes after I submitted a request for the Unhaggle Cost Report on a 2015 Ford Mustang I received a call from Greg Van Es of Eastgate Ford asking if I had any questions. We then set up an appointment for a test drive at which time Greg had a demo car waiting for me upon my arrival. After the drive we reviewed the car, options and pricing. Because they didn't have the exact car I wanted in stock Greg introduced me to the Dealer Principal, Lance. I thought, here we go...he's bringing in the "closer" to get me to sign the deal today. In the contrary, Lance had looked in the dealer inventory system to find the exact car I was looking for so I could go test drive it before I bought it. I was thinking that this was a bold move but as it turns out they had the confidence that their price and service would get me to come back. I did return to buy from Greg at Eastgate. Overall I found the experience refreshing...no pressure tactics...just candid discussions and transparent pricing. After checking with other dealers I found the Unhaggle price to be the best I could get. Most dealerships I visited didn't want to provide any discount on this new model because it is selling fast and there is no delaer inventory. Therefore, Eastgate's Unhaggle price and no-pressure tactics was the reason I ordered the car from Greg.

I just bought my first brand new vehicle with Brian Echlin. I LOVE MY TRUCK and the customer service along the way was 10/10. He had to deal with my constant questions and colour changes (sorry Brian I’m an overthinker lol) of the vehicle but was great about it and reiterating to me that I should feel confident in my choice, so asking questions was something he welcomed. He was awesome with keeping me updated on how the build is going and when I will be receiving it, then Easter morning he sends me a message saying it’s here! What a nice surprise that was !! I hadn’t bought a brand new vehicle in over 30 years, and I decided, now is the time. I was nervous about what I had to deal with. Features, options, can I get approved for financing as a new business owner.
My experience at Eastgate was awesome! I sat down with their finance manager, Robyn Barrett, gave her all the info she required. She then went to bat for me and worked her magic to get me approved. I noticed an award in her office called “Summit award” from Ford, and asked about it. She humbly said it’s given out to the top finance managers in Canada. I knew then, I was in good hands.
I then met Lance Richter, the owner. He is such a down to earth person and personally thanked me for my business and made me feel proud of my purchase.
I have worked many years in retail, and these people, this dealership, is doing it right.

I recently purchased a 2021 Ford F150 from Eastgate Ford. I was going to purchase the vehicle unseen as I was in Windsor. I dealt with Brian Cox ( no relationship) who was excellent to deal with from the beginning. No pressure , just supplied a list of what I was looking for. I found the perfect truck and asked Brian to do a detailed inspection of truck prior to me heading up. Took train to Hamilton, Brian arranged an Uber to the dealership, after some signatures, inspection, I was on my way home with a truck exactly as advertised. The whole process was smooth and hassle free.
Highly recommend Eastgate Ford but more specifically Brian Cox.

Been coming here for my F150 oil changes for about a year. They are better priced then my local mechanic, properly scheduled, and provide more services as part of the package. I do prefer supporting smaller businesses, but it's no competition when you're getting more and paying less - not to mention the comfortable waiting area with snacks, water, and coffee. Recently, my driver's side mirror was damaged during the complimentary car wash. When it was being looked at it was apparent that it was an after market mirror (I bought the truck used and didn't know). They still replaced the mirror for free, using genuine Ford parts. No negotiation or hesitation, they just took care of it.

I purchased a pre-owned F-150 at Eastgate on Dec. 23rd 2023. Can't say I normally feel at ease when purchasing a vehicle, but I did here. Never felt under pressure to sign a deal. Brian Cox is a friendly, knowledgeable sales person, and made negotiating easy.
On the day I picked up the truck, Brian took me to the parts counter, and said choose a hat, I'll pick up the tab. It was a nice gesture, and it was appreciated.

Brian Cox and Eastgate Ford made my transaction as seamless as possible. I live over 300km from Hamilton and we were able to manage all of the details (trade-in, etc.) via text, phone and email. They offered what I thought was fair value for my trade and this was validated when I saw what they put it out on their lot for. Robyn, the F&I manager, was a pleasure to deal with and she did not pressure me at all, which is the complete opposite of almost every transaction I've ever done at a dealership. (Just sitting down in the Finance office is enough to raise my blood pressure) Even their prices for genuine Ford accessories are better than the local dealers here in the Kingston area so I regret not thinking about picking up a few add-ons (bed storage) while I was there! (If I order now I have to pay for shipping)

I took my Escape in for an oil change. I was later informed that my passenger side tie rod needed to be replaced, which I was expecting. So I gave the go-ahead.
That very afternoon, my ABS lights & stability lights lit up on my dashboard for the first time since I bought the car new in 2014. They came back on the next morning on the way back into Hamilton. I took the car to the shop and explained what happened. Oddly enough on the 100 metre drive from my lot to yours, they never came on. So I told them I would give it another 24 hours to monitor the situation. Sure enough, when I went to drive home, they came on immediately & stayed on for the whole trip. Same again coming to work Friday morning.
So I brought it back to the shop. There was no noticeable difference in the car's behaviour otherwise.
When I went to collect it on Friday afternoon, they told me that the mechanic said (and I'm paraphrasing here) some mystery piece of metal must have flown up from the road when I was driving, and got wedged between the sensor & the contactor, which was making the lights come on. And on the rear wheel at that. So he pulled it out and it was all good again. The lights are off. It's a miracle!
So I am led to believe that in the 20 second drive from their lot to mine...this mysterious chunk of steel managed to wedge itself into the inner workings of my rear wheel.
That will be $150 for the labour, thank you very much.
I'm a lot of things, but a gullible idiot isn't one of them.
I have also spoken to my son's friend who is a Mechanic at a Toyota dealership. His suggestion is that Eastgate’s mechanic set something off during the tie rod repair and rather than own up to it.... make up a problem so there is no liability on his part. I take offence that the mechanic thinks someone is stupid enough to believe that story.

Customer service is excellent, I love dealing with all the people here they’re wonderful! **Repair services unfortunately are very poor for in depth issues**.

I’ve brought all my service vehicles here for several years now and my truck. When it comes to basic maintenance and light repairs they’re terrific, extremely accommodating and quick to get vehicles in and out. However when it comes to more complex issues technical staff often doesn’t ensure the vehicle has being repaired properly and are not willing to go the extra mile to raise the issue to service manager or Ford engineering to get a resolution.

My 2018 F150 with extended Ford Warranty, started with a charging fault I was forced to bring it in several times for this issue to be resolved, at first the tech tried to force me to buy a battery which wasn’t the issue (Forced to argue this on the shop floor). After several more visits a lot of my wife and I’s time wasted, having to involve the service manager we may actually have the issue resolved 🤞🏻.

Next issue my truck started to make a metal rattling noise, after paying a few bills to fix a "Loose Clamp" I get the truck back and same noise occurs, brought it in several more times citing the issue thankfully not having to pay because of repair continuation. We’re now several visits in only to be told "this is a normal noise that builds up over time" even though my truck never made this noise when I bought it. So now I’m stuck, Ford Canada has told me to go to another dealer.. This issue should be raised to Ford Engineering and a resolution should be provided as this was not normal when I purchased the truck.

With that long review, in conclusion if you’re looking to have basic maintenance completed and deal with a group of people who will work hard to make it as painless as possible, Eastgate is the place! If you need more complex repairs **STAY AWAY**

Eastgate team, with complex issues they should be raised to Ford Engineering to have a bulletin created so future customers don’t have to deal with the same issue. Especially with ones that purchase warranty. If those issues subside I would be willing to give a solid 5 stars!

I bought my 2017 Ford Fusion at this location, and have had it serviced multiple times here. Last year, in August of 2022, I came in to have my electrical problem sorted out. I was told it was my Gear Shift Module. It was replaced. Upon replacing it faulted again. It was found there was a short circuit in the wiring harness of my Gear Shift Module. Issue fixed, all under my extended warranty. Less than a year later and all the same faults have appeared and I am again being asked to replace the same part for the exact same issues? Not covered by any warranty. Losing confidence this will ever get fixed.

We purchased an Edge here and was pleased with the sale...it was after with the service department that things went bad and crooked. Our vehicle's pre collision sensor was going off prematurely so we took it in. Vehicle is still under warranty. We were charged $400. for them to remove bumper to inspect ( not sure why, as it is under warranty) We were shown a picture and told that there must have been an accident and they weren't even going to submit it because Ford would not cover it and instead gave us a $1600.00 estimate...well there hadn't been an accident and absolutely no outer damage to suggest. We called Ford Canada, which they were no help but did call this dealership several times on our behalf but never got an answer so they left a message to contact us. They never did as they also did with our messages. We were totally being ignored. We ended up going to another dealership where we were listened to and the issue was addressed and fixed and we did not pay a penny as it is under warranty.
I'm sure Eastgate will respond to this review, as they have no record of us..because that's what they usually do.
We will not be doing business with them again and will be letting everyone know what happened including Ford Canada.

I had placed a deposit on a incoming 2022 mustang GT ( black). I waited three weeks then was told that someone else placed a deposit the day before I did. My sales associate Sharon called me and gave me the disappointing news. She then did everything she could to get me another incoming unit at a generous discount ($3000) to make up for the mistake and confusion. I then seen they had an eruption green GT available with all the options I wanted and more. Sharon was wonderful with placing my name on this new green mustang. Sharon was argentine and responded to all of my calls, messages and questions promptly. She worked hard at keeping me happy as a customer and in the end I got a way nicer mustang the I was expecting! I have had nothing but positive experiences with this dealership until recently. I bought a brand new 2014 Mustang in the fall of 2013 and have required very little repairs until now. I took my Mustang in for an oil change Aug. 4th at 1030. At the end of the oil change I was alerted to the front lower right ball joint needing to be replaced. Initially it was recommended to change both driver and passenger ball joints. They quoted me at almost $1,300. I told them I would go to my mechanic as I knew he would do it for a fraction of the price (700$). I was also told my tires desperately needed to be replaced at 3/32”, which is not disputable. I took it to my mechanics who said the driver side ball joint was perfectly fine and not to have it replaced as it would be “money out of your pocket that doesn’t need to be spent right now.” A week later I take my car to my mechanics and he replaced the lower right ball joint as well as the sway bar. My car ran beautifully after that. My mechanic mentioned the tires as well. I told him that I was waiting to replace the tires until the ball joint was done as there would be no point replacing the tires before the front end work was done. Fast forward 2 weeks later (Aug. 25th), I take my Mustang to Ford yesterday to have my new tires put on, as well as have an alignment done. At the end of this repair, I was told that the front brakes need to be done (brake pads and rotors, an additional 768$ plus tax). I declined that yesterday. I pick up my car this morning and drive home and then my husband takes my car for errands and calls me an hour later to say there was no way an alignment was done. We drive back down to Ford this afternoon and they’re telling me it’s because I didn’t replace the driver side lower ball joint. They did another alignment and the car is only a tiny bit better than it was leaving the dealership this morning. We go back to my mechanics and relay all of this to him. His reply was the same as last time: the driver side ball joint is fine, they’re (Ford) trying to place the blame on him. End of story, I want a refund on the alignment as that was 150$ plus tax for a service that has made my car worse now than it was prior to my new tires. And I am now having to go to another car service to have a “3rd” alignment done.

Picture is reference to how bad the initial alignment (done yesterday). This is my car with my wheels straight. When I take my foot off the gas and press the brake, my wheels then turn to the left. It’s a nightmare.

Our sales person Ron Jegeris is an absolute pro, he’s very friendly and made us feel welcome, explained every detail, not one time were we left thinking we got ripped off or could have got a better deal somewhere else. He even surprised us with the delivery of our new vehicles and made sure they were take home ready ASAP.

Lance Richter is another key person in our transaction, he welcomed us to the dealership each time and made us feel like we’ve been friends for years.
