New Car (Sales)

My experience from the first interaction onward was outstanding. Ed Van Herpt, the sales person I directly dealt with, was very attentive but also respected my space and time to make a decision. The vehicle (a XC40) is great and it has been an equal pleasure as a client. I highly recommend Van Herpt Volvo to anyone considering a vehicle purchase.

Al van Herpt was a pleasure to deal with when we were searching for a new Volvov S60. He stayed after closing on a Saturday to answer all of our questions and quoted us a no-nonsense price that beat the competition.

The situation at this Volvo Dealer is one of caution to all clients. I caught Van Herpt over-selling on my car to the tune of $5000. My experience was terrible, clear indication of overselling of unneeded repairs. As I had been in the Automotive Industry for 30 years I sought a second opinion, none of the repairs were required. I brought the discrepancies to the attention of the Service Manager who did not take the situation seriously. I spoke to the Dealer principles with the proof. However instead of investigating they again circled the wagons protected themselves and swept it all under the carpet. A shameful approach. This brings up the issue of buying a Volvo in Kingston? I suggest you proceed with caution with this dealer. For them its all about money, their money. Get a second opinion on major repairs: anything over $500! Van Herpt, may be polite in the sales room but not in the service department. Very disapointing and costly$$ Bob B

Van Herpt, your reply below has no name who wrote it. However I will reply, you ask who I spoke with and also wrote to Al Van Herpt and Devin Milks-Wendt. Its was disgusting they basically circled the wagons to seemingly protect their turf replied by pushing the fault back on the customer. Brutal! I was a very clear case of purposeful over selling! And it was so blatant. It was my duty to warn others attending your business.

Ed Sr. was great to deal with. It was a great "old school" experience. No nonsense. Open communication. Never felt rushed or pressured. Ed Sr. took the time to go over everything. I bought my new to me car 2 days ago and have already recommended Ed Sr. to a friend advising them it's worth the drive to Kingston. Couldn't be happier

I bought a 2024 Volvo XC60 here in May '25. It began glitching shortly afterwards with software issues. Further problems arose in January 2026. Ed and his team have been super helpful in getting all of these issues resolved to my satisfaction. I also had my first service done there recently. A great experience and I appreciated the loaner car. Thank you Ed and team!

I wish I could say things improved since my original review in February 2025 (which I removed at Van Herpt’s request); they haven't.

My 2023 Volvo XC60 experienced repeated failures, including the malfunction of life safety systems, the dashboard, MMI, and gauge cluster (see photos) that took over seven months to resolve (or so I thought). During that ordeal, although I was provided with a loaner, I lost confidence in both the vehicle and this dealership and ultimately purchased a replacement from another manufacturer.

In February 2025 I was told the XC60's issues had finally been resolved. I transferred the vehicle to a close friend, and to Van Herpt’s credit, it ran without incident for roughly 10 months. But as of March 2026, the vehicle has failed again. It is undriveable and sitting at Van Herpt's service department once more.

My family had been a Van Herpt and Volvo customer for nearly 40 years. That loyalty has been repaid with a lemon of a vehicle, months of runaround, and a level of after-sale support that has deteriorated with each visit. I will never purchase another vehicle from this dealership, and I would strongly encourage any prospective buyer to do their due diligence before committing here. Ask about how they handle warranty work, loaner availability, and what happens when things go wrong, because based on my experience, if they do, you'll be on your own.

Excellent service. Had issues with my wipers and battery in my 2021 V60 and Van Herpt Volvo had it fixed in one day. Thank you to Ed, Robert, and Tony! All very professional and care about their clients!

This was one of the most informative yet relaxed dealership experiences I've had.
Al Van Herpt was completely "no pressure" and his passion and knowledge of Volvo products was immediately evident. My wife and I ultimately bought an XC90 Recharge after a short drive and the confidence in its safety largely due to the information passed onto us by Al.
I'd highly recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a Volvo.

I drove over 700 km one way to buy my Volvo from Van Herpt Volvo in Kingston. The difference between this dealership and any other I have been to in my life is that the owners Al and Ed care tremendously about their client base and they care about the product they sell. They are honest, loyal and very kind. I have nothing but the best to say about this family run business and I will gladly drive the 700 km in the future to buy my next Volvo from here.

Blake made my car buying experience very easy and pleasant. We emailed back and forth as I live out of town and he was always quick to respond. Very happy with my new vehicle purchase.

My recent experience with the purchase of a 2022 Volvo xc40 from Van Herpt Volvo Kingston was very easy and frankly enjoyable. Ed Van Herpt Sr. made the whole transaction uncomplicated and showed a sincere desire to make certain that I was 100% satisfied.
He took the time to go over all the details of my purchase . When I arrived to pick up my new Volvo Ed made sure that I understood the operation and many features of this amazing vehicle . Overall I was extremely satisfied with my dealings with Van Herpt Volvo Kingston and their President Ed Van Herpt Sr.

Very grateful for Blake McGinness and Al Van Herpt for an excellent experience in buying my new XC 60 recharge. I LOVED my Subaru, which I had for 12 years, and it was hard to leave behind.

Blake and Al were very supportive, and Blake didn't pressure me at all. He was always respectful and answered all my questions. He was mindful of what mattered to me combined with my desire to buy a plug-in hybrid.

I now have a beautiful car that is also kinder to the environment. I highly recommend Van Herpt Volvo if you're considering a new car. The customer service was impeccable, the dealership spotless, and the people kind.
