June 2020: There were great deals to be had on Golf R's, so I decided I would upgrade from my current leased 18 wagon.
The 1 condition to the purchase of the R was that my current leased 18 wagon would successfully be transferred over to a friend. TJ in sales, Ed in finance and Mike Handous had all said that the lease transfer fee would be $500.00. They said this several times. We agreed to the $500 transfer fee and I paid a $1000.00 deposit on the R, conditional to the lease transfer. I specifically asked Mike Handous if the transfer of the car did not go through, would I receive my deposit back. He said "we are not in the business of keeping customers money".
When the time came to sign the lease transfer paperwork we were again told $500, which was fine and was agreed upon. The very next day Ed in finance calls and says he made a mistake and the lease transfer fee was $1500.00. Instead of owning up to the mistake, charging the agreed upon fee and moving forward with the purchase of my new car, Ed tells me "I encourage you to go to another dealership, as we are the cheapest transfer fee in the city".
The lease transfer fee for VW Canada is actually $350, so anything above that is just marked up by the dealer.
I agreed with Ed and decided to call around. Norden VW agreed that the customer service at Sherwood and the lease transfer fee was unacceptable. They gave me an additional $500 off of the car and did the transfer for $350.00.
When I went back to Sherwood Park VW to get my $1000 deposit back the same day, Mike Handous and Danny Park refused to give me my money back. They claim they put the work in and that they deserve that money. Our lease transfer deal did not go through as discussed and the Golf R sale was contingent on that.
I contacted Moe the gm about this and he told me that I made a promise to purchase the car and I should be holding up my end of the deal.
Please avoid this dealership.
After encountering a very stressful and terrible experience with this dealership, I feel obligated to warn others about this place and its staff and give my honest opinion. I drove up to Edmonton from Calgary in search of a new car. I ended up landing a deal for a Certified Pre-Owned car at this dealership and ended up getting the vehicle for a good price. However, the headache begins with dealing with the finance manager Mike Brar and the general manager Moe Fayad. Mr. Brar will do everything in his power to take advantage of you when going over options, warranty and financing. He did a terrible job of explaining anything and ended up tricking me into extended warranty that cost MUCH more than any other dealership (about $900 to $1500 more depending on the vehicle you purchase). I went in 18 hours later to have it cancelled and was told it can never be refunded. Apparently there are 2 kinds of extended warranty: one that cannot be cancelled called “CPO Assurance Premium” and another one called VW extended warranty which can be cancelled within 60 days. I was never described the difference between the two, what they cover, or whether they can be cancelled or not. Sure, I was naïve and should have asked more questions and read more carefully, but the way they treated me as a new customer after purchasing a vehicle from them was atrocious. I have never felt more like a piece of garbage that doesn’t matter than I did when dealing with Mr. Brar and Mr. Fayad. They truly did not care and only wanted to make a dime off of me. Mr. Brar also snuck in an extra finance payment without telling me, and he also didn’t take a second to apply VW’s special financing rate. His excuse: they run a business. So not only did he screw me on the extended warranty, he didn’t even care to do his job properly and apply the correct financing to the vehicle. Long story short: don’t deal with these scam artists. This review, like my last one wont be published. Stay away sherwood vw. Lied about work done on car we bought from them. Thousands of dollars in work needed. Said work was done that was not. Rear shock was not mounted properly.

We bought a 2014 Honda CRV from them for $20k and immediately noticed going across rumble strips on the highway that the car would bounce completely out of control. We brought it in to both Kal Tire and Sherwood Honda and both recommended all four struts be replaced. Sherwood Honda also noticed a transmission leak and an engine leak. Met with Moe, the general manager, and the car was booked in for their mechanic to review. After four visits we got it back they had listed on a service bill that they had replaced the oil sending switch on the engine which they had not. In addition to this, the skid plate under the vehicle is now loose. We were told that they had to order parts from Honda and to bring it back in a couple of weeks. They installed the cheapest Walmart shocks that they could find and instead of a large nut that holds the shock in place on the bottom they forced on a rusted C clip on the bottom of the left rear one. As this is a safety issue I took pictures of it and the rusted old oil sending switch and sent them off to Moe. Moe has chosen not to answer my email. We’ll see if he will answer to amvic and I was going to say the BBB, but unsuprisingly they are not accredited BBB members. The vehicle is probably in worse condition now than before they put the cheap shocks in it. Stay clear of Sherwood VW.
As promised Mr Moe Fayad iam going to share my experience with your dishonest dealership Sherwood Park Volkswagen with as many review platforms that i can find. I took my Jetta TDI in for the "TDI modification" which was part of the class action lawsuit against VW. I had no letters, emails or calls from VW instructing me on their specific procedure for this so after asking Kelsey in the service dept about it she informed me to book it in before Aug 2018 and they would handle the modification as well as fill out some paper work at the completion of the work and then i should get my compensation cheque in the mail. Well that cheque (5K im told) never came and it turns out its too late to claim because im told the deadline has past. I was a loyal customer to SPVW from day one and it is shocking to me how easily it is for Moe to deny any part in their mishandling of my claim , this is how a loyal customer is treated. They have quickly distanced themselves from me and Moe has gone as far as to instruct his staff not to even talk to me anymore, really Moe? I smell a rat. I have accepted that i will probably not be getting this money from VW and whatever little smoke and mirrors scam VW have with their dealerships seems to have worked for them in this case, so, congratulations VW you can keep your dirty money but one thing is certain, you will not get another dime of my money. I strongly advise anyone even thinking about this dealership for new, used or just service to run for the hills, Sherwood Park VW as well as the mother ship VW Canada are apparently all about recovering their lost money from the lawsuit and they evidently will be quite ruthless about it. I guess VW are dishonest from their Manufacturing right down to their dealerships. So the only reason for the 1 rating is because there is not a 0 option. Disgusted customer Andymac.
James Luong was a great sales gentleman. He help to find the right car in my budget. The finance staff and managers were very helpful and understanding when I didn’t want extra warranty and we’re able to show me month to month what the car would cost and what it would cost in the long term.
The parts staff and service center were amazing to get the little things repaired on my car right away.
I would highly suggest going to this dealership for your Volkswagen purchases and repairs. No hassle open, honest and upfront.
Raoul and Norvin from sales have been awesome since the day I purchased my vehicle last April. I all my years I have never experienced such post-sales service- each and every time I come in! Today was a prime example where they came through with a loaner car for me when my heater core went out. They really saved my day. Alex from service was amazing as well. You guys really are different from the rest- in a good way!

Sales Specialist was great and pleasant to deal with. However, everything after that went south. Finance Manager and Sales Manager proved that the used car sales stereotype of a dishonest business has not changed in over 20 years. Final bill showed charges that could not be explained and I walked away feeling ripped off.
Car was also damaged during final detail no one could be bothered to address it.
No thanks to Sherwood Park Volkswagen for an unpleasant car buying experience. Will not return even though it is very conveniently located.

2019 New Jetta is a very nice car. Purchase experience wasn't so smooth but good, the 4 stars are because I had some issues in the beginning but were solved by general manager, who is so nice, helpful and well-spoken. Also, Peter, the one who guided us through the whole process, is so nice, very active, helpful, informative, and very caring person.

Drove in here from out of town because it was the closest dealer to me, to get my car serviced, not knowing what to expect. What can I say these guys are awesome! Got everything i needed done for a reasonable price, and the same day! The Service Consultant Melissa was fantastic and broke everything down for me, gave me the best price, and answered all of my many questions with patience and genuine concern. The technicians were great, did a fantastic job, and were very friendly. I love the way my car runs, with full peace of mind, and I will definitely be coming back!

Had a great carefree experience buying my car. Lyndon was very helpful and laid back.I wasn't sure I wanted to buy a car at the time and he just let the car sell itself while answering all my questions. The rest of the car buying experience was just as easy and the staff I dealt with were just as friendly and helpful.
A great dealership to deal with. Josh was extremely helpful and great to deal with. If he didn't know the answer to our question he was honest and found the answer. I also greatly appreciated that they dealt directly with me did not just direct all their questions to my husband. They were flexible with pricing and financing and gave a fair deal on my non vw trade in.
Disappointing. Made an offer on a used car, salesman responded a couple days later that he had worked out a great deal for us knocking 1K off asking price and that this was the best deal he could do. Found the same vehicle advertised by them on Kijiji for 4K less than what they were offering it to us for. Response was "oops" I flubbed the numbers …sorry.

Every employee at the dealership was friendly and eager to help, and Raoul truly ensured that my experience was exceptional.
