They were great until after I purchased a "certified" used car.

It's a nice car, but it has some minor issues. No big deal, it is a used car after all. The problem is trying to get them to address any issue. First of all it was extremely difficult booking an appointment. Suddenly these guys who were constantly emailing me before purchasing the car were very slow to respond.

The car had 2 bad wheel bearings, so it wasn't safe and should have never been certified. Well they fixed one, but not the other, even though while other wheels stay cool, this wheel hub gets scalding hot, so hot that if you touch it for more than a few seconds after a drive, it would burn your skin. Keep in mind a wheel bearing is cheap, but if it fails the wheel can fall off.

I noticed another issue after purchasing. The steering wheel is not straight. With a hoist, it's literally a few minutes to fix. Should be no big deal, right? Their answer was to get it straightened on my next wheel alignment. Talk about setting the bar for service less than low.

The brakes pulsate at high speeds. They said it is probably because it has been sitting. Nope, still pulsates.

I really wanted to like these guys, but I give up, going to get the car serviced elsewhere.

Car Servicing

Mazda Tribute, misfire was diagnosed.
Service man called and told me that sparkplugs and coils need to be replaced.
Next day he called me saying that it did not help and main computer PCM needs to be replaced.
He asked 1600$ + Tax.
I refused the offer and found couple used PCM.
First one was with different ID number
Service man told me they copied my data but can’t make it working properly.
Why did they need to copy my data?
All you need is to download the latest software image from Mazda and flash it.
After consulting with someone he told me that board is different and there is nothing they can do.
Do you expect Mazda dealer to know that different board will not work?
I would say “YES”.
NP.
I brought second PCM with the same hardware ID.
Can you imagine my reaction when service man called me telling the same bs.. ?
They copied my data and got “Cruise Control” module so my ABS will not function
I was asking again:
Why do you need to copy my data at all?
Just flash it with latest factory image!!!

The same pause with not understanding what I am talking about…


So here are the charges:

1.2 hours diagnostic --- they probably charge for the first wrong one to replace my recently installed sparkplugs and second one when they determine it was PCM.
Consider most dealer’s services would waive the diagnostic charge if you do repair.
0.5 hours – spark replacement, which was not necessary to do

Attention:

1 hour – coil replacement.

Question: How can you replace sparkplugs without taking coils out?

They just consider customer an idiot…

3 hours – computer flashing.

You can find a lot of video on internet where people do Ford escape PCM flashing for 10-15 min.

And what do I finally have?

About 800$ bill for sparkplugs and coils and 5.7 hours of their labor.
As guys have no idea how to flash PCM properly I will have to visit another service to flash PCM with last factory image.

Conclusion: Absolutely unprofessional service but very professional robbers.

Moved over to this location from Maple Mazda because their service phone line always went straight to voice mail, their "car wash" was simply a spray down and the $20 service voucher wasn't valid with oil changes. They perform the bare minimum of work and overcharge. Among several issues, after having my car serviced there for several years I recently took my car for service at another mechanic who told me that they hadn't changed the air conditioning filters ever, they were solid black!

Let me preface my comments by stating that the sales person Eddie and the Sales Manager Aaron both acted in a caring and professional manner.
However, my experience with the general manager has left a bitter taste in my mouth.
My daughter traded in a jeep on a 2019 Mazda3, and was given a trade in value of $8000,.The general manager said he would "cut a cheque for $8000". However, the trade in allowance was later listed as $7100. The general manager told Mazda Canada, after I complained , that the trade in value was $8000 all in(tax included) which wqs totally false. Further, he included an environmental package at a cost of $937 in the purchase agreement without explaining to her that it was an option. Upon signing the final documents my daughter said she thought the package came with the new car.. Shame on him..

In response to your invitation to discuss the matter, I would gladly accept if I thought further examination of the issue would be fruitful. However, considering that two of your seasoned staff were perplexed with your approach and were unable to provide me with an explanation as to why the two numbers varied, I highly doubt we could come to an understanding. Anyways, my daughter and I view this as a life lesson and will move on. Thank you
