Years ago,i transferred to Island Honda ,have never regretted that decision. This time i dealt with Dave and then Gary. I was happy. But the main reason i keep on coming back, is there Service dept,Of Brian and Gail ,plus Ted from Parts. If they ever change,Well i just may Change. They were all so helpful in my old Fit getting ready to move it to California,Thanks folks, Much appreciated.

Great Honda dealership centrally located in Courtenay. I've been bringing my Honda's here since 1994 and they continue to do a nice job, every time. Friendly staff and great service. Check them out!

Just purchased a sweet used vehicle from Island Honda. What an unexpected smooth and stress free experience! Kevin was very helpful, and the whole Island Honda team made my day special and care-free. I highly recommend Island Honda if you’re looking for a new or used vehicle.

A great buying experience at Island Honda in June when my husband and I bought a 2021 Civic sport. Scott and Yvan were really awesome to work with right from the beginning with an extended test drive to make sure this is the car we wanted. They were quick and friendly throughout the transaction and we are totally in love with our new ride. Thanks guys and Island Honda! See you at our first service ☺️

Sales guy was what you anticipate in a used car salesman. Not my kind of place but not horrible.

We serviced our Honda at Island Honda for the last seven years. On at least four occasions, the service department neglected to properly clean the car's underside after an oil change, even after reminders. Result: we had oil on our garage floor, which needed cleaning. Who needs that after paying for service?

The car was serviced yesterday and once again we had oil on the garage floor this morning.

This is such a simple thing to prevent. We don't understand why the service department hasn't made checking for oil seepage after every oil change a standard procedure. We wonder what other 'simple', but unseen, mistakes occur when they service cars.

Awesome customer service! Yvan and Kevin really made my experience shine, would definitely come back to purchase my next Honda!! :)

Our daughter bought her first car today and Mario and Yvan were great. All the staff we dealt with were great. No pressure and a smooth deal all around. Next up will be the son. Would recommend Island Honda to any parents out there shopping for a safe, reliable auto.

I am just writing a review to express how impressed I was with the phone call I had with the Service Dept today! Usually I feel hesitant to seek help out within the auto world without booking an appointment (even for easy questions) but Ian was awesome and I definitely will consider taking my Honda to service there from here forward.

I don’t have experience with the Sales Department, but I am beginning to have reservations about the Service Department. I bought new tires for my Civic, and upgraded to Toyo tires from the entry-level General tires that Island Honda first recommended. When I picked up the car the tires (and wheels) were supposed to be “good to go”. They weren’t.

I wasn’t quite sure the car was tracking well, so I asked for the alignment to be checked. Island Honda has a diagnostic machine right there in the service bay, and it said that my rear wheels were out of alignment. Alignment was not mentioned when the new tires were installed, which was concern #1.

Then when the alignment was actually done, it turns out that it was the front wheels that were out of alignment, not the rear ones. This brings into question why their first alignment diagnosis was so wrong. Concern #2.

Then, the first time I took the car on a high-speed road I noticed that one tire seemed to be vibrating. I had Island Honda check the balancing again, thinking that if there was a problem so soon after installing/balancing the new tires they would rectify it without charging me. Wrong. They explained that sometimes a weight will fly off the wheel. But so soon after installation? Concern #3.

So, while replacing tires normally takes one stop, at Island Honda it took three stops with additional costs.

I will be looking for a different place to service my Civic.

I can recommend this place, in particular if you can work with Scott. You don't feel the slightly slimy feeling you get when interacting with some other car salespeople.

I would come back here for my next vehicle without hesitation.

I have had my car serviced twice at Island Honda and the experience was positive on both occasions. Everything was completed as required. My only concern was a somewhat relaxed approach by the staff regarding COVID-19. A customer was in the waiting room without his mask covering his face and a staff person walked through the waiting area without a mask on.

Had an appt. for a recalled airbag. It was quick and painless and cost nothing. My car was washed and vacuumed and I was delighted. Think I'm coming here for regular service as well from now on :)

I recently purchased an accord from this dealership. I have nothing but positive things to say about them. I travelled from Lower mainland to pick it up. Their team communicated well remotely with me and there were no surprises. Kim, Gary, Larry and Yvan made this transaction very smooth. I will definitely recommend this dearrshop to all my family and friends.

I highly recommend Island Honda as the friendliest, most hard working dealership ever. Kevin & Kim went above & beyond to make my leading upgrade to the fabulous new CRV LX happen! I am so grateful to the sales manager & everyone that helped me to drive away smiling from ear to ear. Thank you Island Honda. You Rock!

Tried to buy a new CRV here last fall. They tried to sell us one they claimed as new, but actually had over 800 kms on it, several rock chips, a pull on the headliner and a mark on the leather seat. I asked them to bring another one the same colour in that was actually new and they wanted another $1700 to do that. They also tried to add in the “Island Package” for an extra $1000 dollars without mentioning it to me. One quick call to the Honda dealer in Duncan and I made a deal on the CRV I wanted with only 38 kms on it (PDI kms) I paid $1700 less than the best deal Island Honda would give me on their version of a new CRV. I then brought it to island Honda for an oil change. When I picked it up I had been charged for an unnecessary tire rotation as well. Terrible service! Island Honda doesn’t make it easy to shop local!
Never again!!

Been eyeing civics for awhile, and settled on a 2016 EX-T, absolutely in love with it. I drove up and they had everything ready, and let me go on a very long test drive, which really let me get a good feel for the car. Justice was very easy going and relatable, and very professional. They were happy to negotiate as well, without any pressure! All in all, very happy with my experience here, would recommend to anyone looking for new or used vehicles, great job guys!

I am writing this review because I want to warn others to be aware of the business practices at this dealership. I lived in the Comox Valley for approximately one year. I recently had to move out of province for employment reasons. I own a 2018 Honda Civic turbo 4 door hatchback which is in mint condition and only had 11,050 kms on it. It is still under warranty and had many extras on it. I made an appointment with assistant sales manager Colton DeRycke to see what he could offer to buy this vehicle from me. The appointment was set for January 24th 2020 at 2:00 pm. In the mean time I used the Auto Trader application to get an approximate buy out value for my vehicle. The range I received was $16,000 to $20,000 Canadian. I was prepared to split the difference and accept $18,000.

I arrived at the dealership a few minutes early on the date agreed upon and asked to speak with Colton DeRycke. I was informed that he was not working that day. I indicated that there must be some mistake because I had scheduled this appointment 2 weeks in advance. The receptionist contacted DeRycke on his cell and it was obvious he had forgotten about me. To say the least, I was not impressed. I was then handed over to the General Sales Manager, Dylan Thatcher. Thatcher was busy with another deal so I had to wait over 30 minutes before he could see me. I gave my keys and vehicle documents to a sales person so that they would be ready when he had time. Thatcher took my vehicle for a drive and then returned to the dealership where he was busy checking things on his computer as well as speaking with someone on his telephone. Approximately 25 more minutes goes by and he finally comes over and speaks with me. I want to point out that this was the first time he bothered to say hello to me…such considerate customer service. It was a very short conversation. He offered me $13,000 for the car. I responded by saying that the value of the car according to Auto Trader was between $16,000 to $20,000 Canadian. He stated that he spoke with his wholesaler and a car like mine could be got at auction for $13,000. I responded by saying “impossible”. He then instantly raised the price to $15,000 but indicated that that was as high as he was willing to go. I said no thank you…I will take it to another dealership for a second opinion.

To make a long story shorter, I drove the vehicle in question out of province to where I am now living and went to the Honda dealership near my place of residence. The sales manager there treated me like a valued customer. He took the vehicle out for a test drive and within 10 minutes of returning he offered me $18,000 Canadian to buy my vehicle from me. I accepted his offer and the deal was made.

Why was Island Honda trying to low-ball me by $3,000 to $5,000? I understand that a dealership needs to make money from used vehicles, but doesn’t that hold true for the Honda dealer that offered me a fair price? I am a loyal Honda owner, but I cannot sit by and allow future Honda owners to get ripped off by the poor business practices at this location. Do NOT purchase any vehicles from this dealership…that are only concerned about profits at the expense of their clients. If I could have, I would have given them no stars as a rating, but one star is the lowest I could go. Buyer beware!

This review is for parts. Overall, the service is good here. But being a large chain, there are costs added that seem really unnecessary. I needed a new key for my Ridgeline (the plastic housing was not holding the key in place anymore). They want around $70 for the key, $65 to cut it, and another $90 or so to reprogram it, so over $200 all for a bit of broken plastic. I just bought the key itself from them for $70, then had it cut elsewhere for only $15, then moved the RFID chip from my old key to the new one. They told me I cannot move the chip myself, which i'm sure means many people have vastly overpaid for a new key. You can also buy honda blanks off ebay and amazon for way cheaper, then just get it cut and move your remote and chip over.

I delivered some take out for this dealership. I must say that I was very impressed. One of the sales reps came out and talked to me about my Older 2005 Honda that I had just picked up. Will be back for my future Honda needs. Thank You :)

I just bought my second vehicle from Island Honda. This is the best team of sales people who care about making your purchase quick and easy. I have also sent my daughter here to purchase her first family car. The GM went out of his way to find me the vehicle that I wanted. I definitely recommend Island Honda

$700 brake and rotor job that had to be redone 18 months later. Island Honda refusing to cover it. Shop that repaired my car stating the worst brake job they’ve ever seen and no lube used at installation causing brakes to seize.

In reply to the Owner of Island Honda, thank you for taking the time to reply. Brian, the manager, had called me yesterday, Oct 23rd, stating that you and him had discussed this and decided that unfortunately there was nothing you could do. Brian has my contact information should the above information be wrong and you truly wish to rectify the situation.
PS my weekend will be great with new brakes that are installed correctly and at a fraction of the cost. I look forward to getting an extra few years out of them 😉.

Had my brakes & rotors done 18 months ago at Island Honda with a “B maintenance”. Paid $700 after multiple different “discounts”. Took my car in last week to a different shop to change my other brakes as they’ve never been done in 6 years to find that my brakes that were just done by Island Honda have been dysfunctional and have seized. I contacted Brian the manager who then blamed me for improper maintenance (yet my other brakes that were never done received the same car and maintenance and have been just fine...). The shop here contacted Brian at Island Honda... Brian again accusing the shop that it was their poor maintenance (if brakes are installed correctly, they don’t need maintenance - even tho my car has been taken care of as per Honda’s recommendations). The shop here says absolutely no lube was used when they installed and it was one of the worst brake jobs they’ve ever seen. I emailed Brian proof of receipt of maintenance and photos of the brakes. No reply. Our mechanic friends here again validating the poor job done by Island Honda. I gave Brian a few days to rectify the situation but has since stopped communicating with me. $700 bought me brakes for a year. Stay away from them, this was an absolute awful experience!

I leased a car here 3 years ago and have had the very best service plus I love my car. I pop in the drive in service center whenever I have a question or problem and it's taken care of promptly and knowledgeably. They even store my winter tires there!

We had a great experience from all who we dealt with starting with Sebastian who was friendly and got us in touch with Colton who we made a deal promptly for our 2016 Nissan Murano. The sales manager , Larry completed our sales agreement quickly and didn’t pressure us into any extra warranties that we didn’t want. I would recommend Island Honda for a fair deal and great customer service!

Who the heck is Credence? Makes me think all of those "Google User"s ARE Credence! Anyway....
Let's be clear: car dealers are car dealers, and like any business they need to make money and have a LOT of competition in this area, as well as being very high on the scale for pricing - only a house purchase is more, but you buy those once (and then flip) and they don't depreciate - so is Island Honda any different?
Yes, and no. For my money, Japanese vehicles have been the most reliable and best quality for at least 40 years. Honda, along with Toyota, is at the top of the heap. Nothing against Mazda, and some Nissan models are good. I would love a Subaru, but there's no local dealer and I am not driving to Nanaimo for servicing. So, there are great vehicles on this lot.
The Staff: pretty normal turnover, it's a cutthroat business and, like sales anywhere, if you don't produce you are history. Plus office politics. So, if a salesperson lasts they are either good with customers (closing deals) or a team player (they get a base salary to stay alive). The best I have ever met, at any car dealer, is a very personable young man named Jay Cubitt. I could tell you all about his friendly manner, lack of pushiness, and willingness to just listen, but I suggest you go see him for yourself.
If there is trouble, it comes - as always - when the Management enters the picture, especially if you are trading in. No matter how much you like your salesperson, they really have no power with the numbers. It is at this point that - feeling bad, like not being able to adopt that puppy - you walk because the Top Guy or Mr. Finance pissed you off on the trade-in offer, or was unable to get you financing (your fault, now it's on to the Used Lots with high interest rates and Mr. Shark Smile salesman).
If you have great credit, or are Leasing or Buying outright, you of course have a lot more cards in your hand. I'd suggest walking in with a fairly firm figure in mind, don't add extra warranties or protection package (undercoating) or anything - even accessories - and you have bought a vehicle that is unbelievable in value: compare it to that '85 Plymouth Fury that you bought new for EXACTLY THE SAME COST adjusted for inflation. Did it have ABS, 4-wheel disc brakes, and navigation or an entertainment system like this? And the MPG, well......then there's the power-to-weight ratio......my goodness, how did we put up with those garbage mobiles?
This new car will last 250,000 miles easy. That old Americrap rusted out or started blowing oil early and went to the crusher at half that mileage.
So, feel happy if you can do a good deal - they're not giving away new cars, except with low financing rates rates if you qualify - I mean, 0% is free money, why wouldn't you finance? - and if the Boss there can realize that your feet (and current car) will take you up the road to another dealer very easily, then perhaps you will find, as I have, that Island Honda is about as good as it gets. Very very good product, some great sales staff, and a car dealer (Management) that is as desperate as every other business to not let you think too long or "just look" today, but hey - would you want that pressure? You just have to go through the process for a few hours, not several times a day, every day, as your JOB....

a little over 2 weeks ago my dad and I went to the courtenay/comox dealership just to look at cars for me. that's where we met Credence, he was very nice and not at all pushy like a lot of salesmen I've seen. we ended up buying a 2007 pontiac G5 and I am absolutely in love with it! the dealership and everyone we dealt with there was amazing, we got a great deal and everyone was so nice. I'm so happy with their service, and my car (which came with brand new tires, score!) that I will totally be going back there when I need another car, and you can bet I'll be asking for Credence again! thanks so much!
