Andrew was a great help. I contacted him (referral from a friend) and after a 15 minute phone call and an email he had two vehicles for me to choose from within an hour. The vehicle we decided on had everything I wanted and more, and was well within the price range I had given him. Not only did he get back to me quickly, he delivered the vehicle to me 5 hours north of Calgary and brought my trade-in back with him. I purchased a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado Trail boss LT through High Country Chevrolet on May 22nd, 2019. Since purchasing the truck I have had nothing but problems. Within the first month I was pretty certain my tailgate had opened on its own. After bringing this concern to the Shaw GMC dealership, I was told I must be pressing the tailgate open on either the fob or the center console, and that it isn't possible for the tailgate to be opening on its own. I left convinced I must've somehow opened it without knowing. A couple months pass and my tailgate opens while driving out snowboarding and I lost one of my passengers snowboards. I have 2 other passengers that can confirm I used my back-up camera when leaving Tim Hortons (the tailgate had to have been closed to use the camera), and 5 minutes later when driving down Glenmore, another driver notified me my tailgate was open. I immediately went back to Shaw GMC and told them what happened. They told me they were unable to reenact it so there is nothing they can do. It happened twice within the first 6 months of owning it, I bought it to your attention the first time, and now I'm out a $1000 snowboard set up when it happens again and i'm told there is nothing they can do. You'd think driving a brand new vehicle you wouldn't have to be concerned about your tailgate opening and you losing your belongings. The lady I was dealing with a Shaw GMC suggested I strap everything down in the bed of my truck to prevent this from happening again. Is this a joke? Do you expect me to pay $60k+ on a vehicle that I have to tie everything down in the bed in fear of my tailgate opening and me losing everything? Give your head a shake....
Now fast forward to present day. After numerous other issues I've had that I won't even mention, my brand new 2019 Trail boss with 32000kms broke down when driving downtown last week, less than 10000kms after I told Shaw GMC I was hearing a tick and my transmission was slipping. Again they told me they couldn't find anything wrong, and they said they restarted my transmission so it would recalibrate, learn how I drive, and hopefully fix the issue. Talked to the supervisor and he assured me the engines/transmissions are bullet proof and I wont have any issues with it and they sent me on my way. Within 10000kms of being told the engines/transmissions are bullet proof, my truck started shaking aggressively when I came to a stop. I turned off my truck, and when I turned it back on it hesitated a bit, and then immediately started shaking aggressively. The check engine light started flashing, dash told me to service the esc, and to service the parking brake. I called Shaw, they told me to pull over and immediately call roadside, so I did. My truck broke down at 3:30pm, and roadside said they wouldn't be there to tow my truck until 9:30pm. The lady at Shaw told me I need to wait with my truck until the tow truck arrives so I can shift it in Neutral to get it on the truck. You want me to wait downtown with my truck that broke down for 6 hours just to shift my truck into neutral?! I then asked if they would be able to pick me up and drive me home, as I was about 45 minutes from my house. They told me I was responsible for finding my own my home, and left my stranded downtown.Pretty great service when spending $360 bi-weekly on a new truck. You just leave your customers stranded unable to get home when your incompetent vehicles break down?! If I were out of town/province you would've just stranded me there and that is completely unacceptable. When on the phone with roadside, they told me they would be towing my truck to the closest dealership. I requested they tow it to Shaw GMC instead, as I already told them what was going on and have dealt with them in the past. Roadside told me that wouldn't be an issue, and that my truck would be at Shaw GMC that night. I called Shaw and told them I'll be needing a rental as I use my truck daily for work. They told me they are unable to issue rentals until it is considered a warrantable cause. Get me a damn rental....Continued

I stopped in to the service bay because my tires needed air. And also I had just had the warning light flash and let me know the battery was low. Initially I was told that they would need the truck for the day and that they were booked up for the day. They did have someone adjust the air in all of my tires. He was very friendly and explained what he was doing. Then Jennifer came over to see if I was being taken care of. I said yes and then talked to her about the battery. She took time to let me know more a out the testing they do to diagnose the problem. She asked if I wanted to leave the truck to get it checked. I hadn't planned on leaving it as it was unexpected. However she went above and beyond to make it easy for me. So I ended up going ahead with it. I am so happy with this service as I didn't want my battery to run out and be stuck having to get a boost. GSL is an okay dealership. The service is okay, they do what they say they will do. There is no wow factor at the dealership, but they get the job done.

The sales tactics are questionable, like contacting me and making unsolicited low ball offers on my vehicles. I am talking offering ~$25,000 below market value. Both vehicles have been sold privately for their true market value.

That's business, I am sure some people go for the offers and why not try, you never know who might accept.

There's better and there's worse out there.

I have been a customer of GSL GM City for over three years. Usually my experience is positive, because I have a somewhat newer car that doesn’t require much work. I have had an appointment for an issue that arose in the past months, unbeknownst to me. I brought the car in for a diagnosis and the price to fix it was a little on the ridiculous side, I found out after talking to friends that used to be mechanics. They told me they suspected that the price that was given to me was so high because I’m a woman and I went in without a man to corroborate what was being said.

I decided to tell the service advisor that the price was a little too much for me and that I will order the parts in and do it myself with a little bit of help. I had no answer from the service advisor. A few days later I message the advisor again, to tell him I ordered the parts from another dealership, as I still hadn’t heard from him. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but I felt like because I chose not to go through with the repairs, my business was therefore not wanted and I wasn’t even given the curtesy and common decency of even being acknowledged by the way of a simple reply to my messages. I’ve never had such bad service in any industry and the whole experience left me bitter.

I have come to GSL GM City for almost all maintenance with my 2018 Silverado. The staff provides good overall customer service. From the service department where Jennifer has helped me and my fiance through a lot of warranty work with our vehicles and regular maintenance to the parts department helping me out with my odd parts question. I feel Jennifer seems to actually cares about us as customers, and looks out for our safety out on the road, and has never pressured us on maintenance we didn't need. She is very personable, easy to talk and seems to genuine care when we have had issues with our newer vehicles in the past. I didn't buy my truck new from GSL, but looking back I wish I did to support this local business. Very happy with them overall. My family and I will continue to go back for good reason.

This was the most positive vehicle purchasing experience I've ever had. The staff are more than willing to work with your requests. We put a deposit for the vehicle one week and requested some additions and modifications. Throughout the week we were kept updated on the progress. My family and I have come to GSL for vehicle servicing for MANY MANY years, they're very quick and are always quite accurate with their quick quotes before you get work done. They have a great shuttle system that can take you where you need to go on the city while you're vehicle is being repaired.

Today I went in for a part that they had to order me from a dealership in the states. The part came quickly, they phoned me immediately when it came in and I got it installed the next day with no hitches.

Excellent service provided by Chase. Not so great experience with Enterprise Rental. There was no one manning their desk and I had to wait 10 minutes for their representative to get back from filling up a car with gas. In my opinion that was not a priority. On a positive side their rates are very reasonable. Another negative is that when I did return the car it was scrutinized minutely and they claimed that I scratched it in one place (which I did not do). I never had to worry about ACL being so picky, but now with Enterprise I will have to do a more careful inspection before taking the vehicle away. Having a rental car available is very important to me as I have places I have to go during the day. I want to continue to have my cars serviced at GSL but if it ever came to a point where there was no rental available I would not be able to have my cars serviced there. Perhaps Enterprise is still adjusting to taking over the car rental business.

Bought my car at GSL in September 2013, after months of shopping and dealing with terrible sales people... GSL was more than willing to do anything within their power to make me happy. I honestly wasn't planning on buying a car that day it was more of just test driving and looking. For my test drive i was allowed to go where i wanted and how long i needed to make the decision on the car. After i got back from my test drive i loved the car and as my sales person knew i wasn't planning on buying it he put no pressure on me nor did he draw up paperwork until i specifically asked him to which was nice. so we wrote up the paperwork because i was in love with the car and the price as well. purchasing process was easy and no pressure to get add ons. In December 2013 i noticed m bloc heater cable casing was breaking apart so i called GSL made my appointment and when I brought it in the immediately dealt with it kept me informed of what was going on and even gave me a shuttle ride home so I didn't need to catch a cab.. I would recommend anyone too buy a vehicle here and will be buying my next vehicle here when it comes time, and will get all my servicing done here.
