Quick Look

The 2014 Audi TT is a gorgeous-looking vehicle that has more prestige than sportiness. Inspired by Germany’s Bauhaus art, the TT is one-of-a-kind in terms of style and profile.

Full Review

The 2014 Audi TT earns most of its esteem with its grand, hard-to-ignore style. While remaining traditional in terms of Audi’s classic flowing elements, the TT has a bit more punch and a lot more attitude. On the outside, it’s is hard to miss, because of its sporty front and rear bumpers, edgy side sills and in-your-face front grille.

The eye candy TT also has a pretty tasty interior. The cabin has a chic dashboard and high-end designs throughout. The gauges and controls are conventional in relation to the rest of the vehicle and doesn’t do more than it should. The front leather and Alcantara seats are power-adjustable and extremely supportive. There is also sufficient legroom, allowing the driver to feel personable and accommodated, but never claustrophobic, unlike some other innovative coupes on the market, such as the MINI Cooper Roadster.

The 2014 TT is available in both a four-seat coupe and a two-seat convertible body, which makes it a tough decision depending on what you want. A luxury sports car or a luxury convertible? Shall we flip a coin?

Either way, the Audi TT does not offer a lot of cargo space for either passenger or luggage. But if you were to compare, the coupe presents up to 24.7 cubic feet of storage space with the rear seats folded down and 13.1 cubic feet with the cramped rear seats up. However, the convertible’s trunk does have a respectable 8.8 cubic feet, which is not a bad number compared to several rivals, including the Nissan 370Z.

In 15 seconds the multi-layer soft top with glass rear window can be retracted and the passengers will forget about all the room below and suddenly experience all the room they have above. The coupe, in spite of it all, cannot do much to seat extra passengers. Baggage, cleaning supplies and forgotten office documents, on the other hand, wouldn’t mind the stuffy environment.

The TT is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, a six-speed automated manual transmission and a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that can deliver 265 hp and 258 lb/feet of torque. The vehicle delivers more than just good looks with a responsive performance and respectable acceleration, despite the fact that it has less horsepower than some of the other sportier options out on the market.

When it comes to safety and infotainment, the TT doesn’t stand out from the crowd like it should with technological advancements. It comes with the standard antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, front-seat side and knee airbags. And for fun, the TT comes with 255-watt Bose sound system with AUX and USB input, automatic climate control and flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters. Optional navigation system, magnetic ride damper system, a six-disc CD changer and ultrasonic rear parking assist system can also be installed.

The 2014 Audi TT is a unique experience that doesn’t disappoint in terms of style and drivability. While some may question the steering and call it inferior compared to other sports cars, the TT doesn’t allow the driver to linger on its shortcoming for too long. Both the coupe and convertible are confident vehicles that are fully capable of taking hard turns with the best of them. So whatever, it doesn’t matter if it’s not like the others.
